The King's War, by designer Charles Vasey, simulates the desperate four year struggle betwixt Crown and Parliament. A glorious 34" x 22" map of England depicts the political and regional affiliations that dominated the actions of both sides. The 360 playing pieces include both combat units (regiments of horse and foot), and markers for revolts, ambuscades and the Clubmen. The named Leader counters included effect combat, movement, and recruitment. If the monthly turn campaign game seems daunting, seven separate scenarios are included, all playable in an evening, cover the key campaigns during the four years of struggle.
Can you raise sufficient forces to hold the field while garrisoning key points so as to deny them to your opponent? Will you win battles, only to be trapped when your opponent cuts off your path of supply? Will the Scots or Irish regiments prove decisive? Be king (for a day) as you take to the field, or if you wish, take part in a regicide. But remember, as Blackstone put it in his Commentaries, "The source of all Law must necessarily be the King".
